Peter Burleigh

Peter Burleigh studied Linguistics at Oxford University and Visual Communication at Goldsmiths College. He has been teaching English language and culture at the English Seminar, University of Basel since 1995 and critical and aesthetic theory in the interdisciplinary CoCreate programme at the HGK, Basel since 2014. His main interests lie in the intersection of marking and memory in photography, the semiotics of visual representation, and critical theory, referring to Stuart Hall, Gilles Deleuze & Felix Guattari, Donna Haraway, and Sara Ahmed, among others. He also works with his partner, Sophie Jung, on performance as an artist duo. He leads a humble life in the service of teaching.
