Mana Neyestani

Mana Neyestani is an Iranian cartoonist, illustrator, and graphic novelist based in France. Born in Tehran in 1973, he studied architecture at the University of Tehran before pursuing a full-time career in editorial cartooning and comics. In 2006, following the publication of a children’s cartoon that was misinterpreted and sparked widespread unrest, he was arrested and imprisoned in Iran. After his release, he was forced into exile and eventually settled in France. Neyestani (Born in 1973 in Tehran) is the author of several acclaimed graphic novels, including An Iranian Metamorphosis, The Spider of Mashhad, Everything Is Fine!, Three Hours, Paper Birds, and Shadi: A Story of Flight PS752. His work has appeared in numerous Iranian and international publications, and his books have been translated into several languages. He is internationally recognized for his work in editorial cartooning and graphic memoir, addressing themes of censorship, exile, political repression, and human rights. His cartoons and graphic narratives have been exhibited and published worldwide.
